The Externato Marquês de Pombal was founded in 1967 and has been open to the public for over 57 years.

It is located in Lisbon, at Largo do Leão, near the Parish of Arroios. Over 35,000 students have passed through this school. The Externato Marquês de Pombal is one of the oldest schools in the country within the scope of education "as a second chance," meaning it is primarily aimed at those who, for various reasons, did not complete Basic Education (9th grade) or Secondary Education (12th grade).
