Colegiul Economic “Ion Ghica” / Romania

In the old part of the city, marked by the effects of the economic crisis, and quite close to the Danube Faleza, there is the "Ion Ghica" Economic College, with 146 years of age. Currently, the school institution has three building bodies where 914 students, aged between 15 and 19, are assigned the activity in 35 classes as follows:

-Technical highschool - 20 classes with qualifications: "Technician in economic activities", "Tehn. in administration ","Tehn. in trade activities","Tehn. in tourism","Tehn. in gastronomy "; seral - 3 class "Tehn. in gastronomy/trade "

- 3 years professional education - 10 classes: with the qualifications: "Bucatar", "Waiter in food", "Confectioner-patiser"

• Post-secondary school - 2 classes, "Assistant Management" qualification.
 

Colegiul Economic “Ion Ghica” Târgoviste is the successor to over 75 years of Târgoviste’s economic education tradition. The current institution emerged from humble beginnings—a remnant from the town’s archival past as a SCHOOL operating alongside the old Chamber of Commerce.

From the fall of 1922 until January 1932, at the initiative of the Târgoviste Chamber of Commerce, graduates from four primary school classes were enrolled in the first class of the Boys’ Elementary School of Commerce.

In the 1923–1924 school year, the Boys’ Superior School of Commerce in Târgoviste was founded with an enrollment of 33 students.

In 1926, the first building shown in the image below, along with the building of the local Catholic School situated next to it, was annexed.

In 1927, construction of the current high school building commenced.

In 1936, work was completed on the central pavilion and the main entrance, according to the design of engineer Armin Mantele.

Based on Ministerial Decision No. 83714, starting with the 1936–1937 school year, the Târgoviste Commercial School was transformed into a commercial high school.

Since its inception, the institution has exclusively provided vocational and technical education. It has established a tradition of economic education in Dâmbovița, being the only school with this particular profile in Dâmbovița County.

Today, the school’s primary focus in vocational training is in the Services sector.
